In the upper tracery, surrounded by medallions, is a circle in which Jesus, dressed in red and white robes, is shown carrying a cross.

Erected by William McOnie in memory of his brother Peter McOnie, Engineer, Glasgow, who died 12th December, 1850
|
Peter McOnie, of Kinning Cottage, Kinning Place, Paisley Road, was the senior partner of P & W McOnie, Scotland Street. In earlier days William and Andrew McOnie were in business with their brother Peter. When William retired from P&W McOnie, Peter took Mr. Mirlees into the business and Andrew left shortly after. The firm became McOnie & Mirlees and at a later date Mirlees, Watson and Co. Ltd., Eglinton Works, Glasgow, specialising in the manufacture of sugar machinery. William joined Andrew in setting up W. & A. McOnie which later became McOnie, Harvey & Co.
