The gift of William McOnie.
|
Gifted in 1875. William McOnie, engineer, of P & W McOnie and later of W & A McOnie, Scotland Street – one time Lord Provost of Glasgow. He resided at Heath Bank, 43 St. Andrew’s Drive. Mr. McOnie was a founder-member and one of the three Original Trustees of the Church. He was Lord Provost of Glasgow for the term 1883-1886 and was knighted at Blythswood by Queen Victoria in 1888. He died in 1894.
